Norman North High School safety Ethan Rash approaches his senior season with a clear sense of purpose, both for himself and for the Timberwolves defense he helps anchor. Summer has been a time to build not only strength and speed, but a deeper connection within the locker room. “Summer workouts are going well the team is really deepening our bond with one another and developing our craft, in spring ball I learned that we are a team who has a high potential we just all have to be on the same page.”
Rash, a veteran presence in the secondary, knows his role starts with sharpening his own skill set. “I currently play safety I am working to improve all aspects of my game as there is always room for improvement, working on speed, footwork, and agility,” he said. That mindset feeds into his belief that Norman North will lean on experienced voices across the roster. “I think we will be a great team who has a lot of veteran leaders.”
As one of those leaders, Rash has a specific message for his teammates as they prepare for Friday nights under the lights. “Coming into this season my message to my teammates is to take one game at a time and give it your all every snap, enjoy and embrace the moments of hard-fought victories and celebrate with your brothers.” He sees the Timberwolves as a tight-knit group with lofty potential. “This team is capable of anything we put our minds to this is truly a band of brothers and when we all operate on the same wavelength it’s hard to stop us. To reach our goals we must perfect the little things and focus more on what’s in front of us than the big picture.”
Even away from the field, football remains woven into Rash’s routine, but he is intentional about savoring time with those closest to him. “It’s hard to say away from football, as it’s always a part of my weekly routine. However cherishing memories with family and friends has been an amazing part of my summer realizing I only have one year left with the closest people in my life before we all split apart.”
He also points to teammates who could make noise this fall, especially on the defensive front. “Our junior defensive line man Elijah Coleman will shock the state he had an amazing sophomore season on varsity and is going to step into a role as a leader for the defensive front this year, we have a lot of players to watch for such as Aiden Williams, and Byron Mason.”
Rash hopes his legacy at Norman North is defined by toughness and leadership. “I want to be remembered as someone who always stuck their face in the fan and fought as hard as he could on the field for his brothers, also as a leader who inspired and helped his teammates achieve their goals.” Looking ahead, he plans to continue his playing career while preparing for life beyond the game. “I would love to play football after high school as I currently possess two offers and plan to pursue a career in physical therapy. I would love to adventure out of the state and live in Colorado.”
