2026 Norman North Timberwolves Football Preview – Presented by Genesis of Norman

NORMAN NORTH TIMBERWOLVES

Coach: JUSTIN JONES

5-6

Norman North’s 5-6 record in 2025 doesn’t fully reflect the optimism inside the Timberwolves’ locker room heading into 2026. With eight starters back on each side of the ball and a proven quarterback in place, ninth-year head coach Justin Jones has one of his most experienced lineups to date. The staff did not submit a narrative outlook, but the numbers tell the story: a 3,200-yard passer, multiple 500-plus yard receivers, a balanced feature back and a defense loaded with returning production. That combination gives Norman North the tools to flip close losses into wins and reinsert itself firmly into the Class 6A conversation.

All eyes offensively are on junior quarterback Nash Henry (6-4, 215), who posted big-time numbers as a sophomore. Henry completed 234 of 372 passes for 3,222 yards with 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions, showing the arm talent and volume of a true centerpiece in a modern passing attack. He has no shortage of weapons, starting with senior tight end Ben Kolar (6-4, 235), who caught 44 passes for 622 yards and nine touchdowns and gives the Timberwolves a mismatch in the middle of the field. Senior receiver Aiden Williams (6-0, 170) added 40 receptions for 571 yards and six scores, while senior slot receiver Vlad Afanasiev (5-10, 170) totaled 34 grabs for 396 yards and two touchdowns. Senior running back Byron Mason (5-11, 185) is the definition of a dual-threat back after rushing 164 times for 827 yards and 10 touchdowns and hauling in 33 receptions for 530 yards and five more scores, making him a security blanket for Henry on checkdowns and screens. Senior receiver Rylan Humphrey (6-3, 170) adds another long target on the perimeter, giving Norman North the kind of spread-out skill group that can stress any secondary.

Defensively, returning eight starters gives the Timberwolves rare continuity at all three levels. Senior safety Ethan Rash (5-10, 180) is a tackling machine after piling up 159 stops with two tackles for loss and five pass breakups, and he sets the tone from the back end. Senior linebacker Luke Adams (6-1, 230) is another key piece, racking up 85 tackles and five tackles for loss, while junior safety John Paul Lundquist (6-2, 180) emerged as a playmaker with 84 tackles, five tackles for loss, nine pass breakups and four interceptions. Junior linebacker Trooper Jones (5-10, 205) added 81 tackles and contributed across the stat sheet with a tackle for loss, pass breakups, an interception and a fumble recovery. On the outside, senior cornerback Khylan Johnson (5-9, 170) produced 69 tackles, four tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, giving the defense a proven cover man who is also active in run support. Junior defensive lineman Elijah Coleman (6-0, 230) strengthens the front with 68 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and a fumble recovery. With that much production returning, Norman North has the pieces to complement its explosive offense with a more consistent, opportunistic defense in 2026.
