Norman North’s Kennedy Walker
Norman North junior Kennedy Walker brings a steady presence, quick decision-making and plenty of energy to the Lady Timberwolves’ varsity fastpitch softball team.
A shortstop and third baseman, Walker understands the demands that come with playing on the left side of the infield. Both positions require players to react quickly, communicate and make confident decisions under pressure.
“I play shortstop and third base. The hardest part is probably how quickly you have make decisions,” Walker said.
Walker embraces another important responsibility on the field: setting the tone for her teammates. She considers herself one of the team’s most vocal players and uses that voice to keep the Lady Timberwolves focused and encouraged throughout games.
“I think I am very vocal on the field, I am definitely the loudest. I want my teammates to be engaged, pumped up and doing their best,” Walker said.
That leadership comes naturally within a team environment Walker values deeply. Time spent together has strengthened the group’s connection, turning teammates into close friends while creating a supportive culture around the program.
“I love how close our team is. We spend so much time together, and some of my best friends are on this team,” Walker said.
Former teammate Jules Linares helped shape Walker’s own approach to leadership. Walker admired Linares’ work ethic, character and ability to make younger athletes feel included, qualities she now aims to carry forward.
“Jules Linares really left an impression on me because of how she carried herself. She worked hard, was a great teammate, a wonderful leader and always made the younger players feel like they belonged. That’s something I try to do now,” Walker said.
Away from softball, Walker makes academics her priority and serves as vice president of Project Linus, a school club that makes blankets for children in hospitals. After graduation, she hopes to continue playing softball at a college with strong academics while exploring an interest in business or finance.
